The Main + Central line was my first opportunity to build a brand from inception to market. One of the problems I saw with eyewear is that customers didn’t understand how to find the right frame size for them, and one of the opportunities I recognized is that they wanted to have different styles for different occasions. Main + Central’s debut collection was composed of 6 styles - one for each day of the week and one for weekend, each in a small medium and large, an immense simplication of the retail experience for the consumer.
The frames were unisex and made of cost-conscious, eco-conscious plastic and priced at a value price point, allowing for an increase in units sold per order and AOS.
The Main + Central name was an homage to my hometown of Vancouver. The Central train station at the base of Main is one of the most vivid signs of home for me, situated at the centre of the city’s thriving arts and culture scene.
